Heroing (n.) - When you deliberately numb, minimize, or provide advice right away to your own or another's fear, hurt state, or confusion, you are heroing. Heroing sounds like "You will be okay," "This will all work out for the best," "This is nothing. You can handle it," ""What you need to do is..."
The opposite of heroing is empathic listening or coaching. These skills acknowledge without minimizing what is going on and are about helping the other person come to their own decisions or conclusions about the issue at hand.
Heroing is often done out of discomfort and doesn't solve the long term issue of the person developing better skills to independently and healthily handle issues as they arise
